The inception workshop for the 3-year SAIN WG3 project 'Addressing vulnerabilities and building capacity for adaptation of agriculture to climate change in China' was held at the Chinese Academy for Agricultural Sciences in Beijing on Tuesday 2nd March 2010. Over 20 representatives from all the partners involved met to discuss the details of the activities that will work towards the project's objective of addressing the skills needs of adaptation researchers and Chinese farming communities vulnerable to climate change in order to enhance UK-China collaboration targeted to improve the adaptation of Chinese agriculture to climate change. Project activities will include workshops, surveys, literature reviews, awareness raising and collaborative research projects. The findings will be communicated via a dedicated website, video diaries and participatory work with farming communities. Project partners were joined in their discussions by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the PR China, the DFID-Beijing office and the leader of another SAIN WG3 project.
