SAIN members were in Beijing to celebrate 30-anniversary of China-UK collaboration in S&T

Prof David Powlson, David Norse and Dr Yuelai Lu were in Beijing 29 March to 31 March as member of UK delegation attended series of activities remarking the 30 anniversary of China-UK collaboration in science and technology. The delegation was led by Prof John Beddington, Chief Scientific Advisor to the UK Government, with 20 members including Nobel Prize winner Sir John Sulston.

Prof Lin Erda, Co-chair of WG3 of SAIN, was member of Chinese delegation.

At the Scientific Innovation Forum co-organised by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China and British Embassy in Beijing, Prof Lin Erda gave a key note speech on Climate Change and Sustainable Development. Prof David Powlson delivered a key note addressing agricultural cooperation between the two countries - Improved Nitrogen Management: Multiple Benefits for Climate Change, Water Quality and Farmer’s Incomes.

Both Prof David Powlson and Prof Lin Erda were awarded a medal by Mr Li Xueyong, Vice Minister of MOST in recognition of their contribution to UK-China cooperation.
